Hearthforge is a block-puzzle game that can be played entirely offline and without an account. We — the developer — collect no personal data unless you choose to join the optional global leaderboard, described below. There is no registration and there are no analytics SDKs. The third parties involved are Google AdMob, which serves the ads described below, and Google Firebase, which stores the leaderboard if you join it.
Your scores, best-score history, and settings (sound on/off, etc.) are saved only in the app's local storage on your device. They never leave your device and are deleted when you uninstall the app.
The global leaderboard is opt-in. Nothing in this section is collected unless you tap Join the ranks. You can play the whole game, and read the leaderboard, without joining.
If you join, the app creates an anonymous identifier for your installation and stores the following with Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore):
We do not collect your email address, phone number, Google account, contacts, or location for the leaderboard. There is no sign-in and no password. The anonymous identifier is not linked to any account and is not sold or shared with anyone. Your display name and score are shown publicly to other players.
Your display name is public. The game deals you a name such as Emberwright#4821; you can roll for another, or type your own and change it later. A name you type is shown to every other player, so it is user-generated content: it must not be offensive, hateful, sexual, or impersonate the game or another person. Names are checked against a word list in the app before they are saved and again before they are shown. Any player can report a name from the leaderboard, and can hide another player on their own device. Reported names are reviewed by us and offensive names are changed or removed, which may include deleting the row. Reports contain only the reported entry, the reporting player's anonymous identifier and a short reason; they are never shown to players.
Leaderboard data is sent over an encrypted connection and stored by Google Firebase. See Google's Privacy Policy.
The game shows an occasional interstitial ad after a game ends and an optional, user-initiated rewarded ad ("watch an ad to continue"). Ads are served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect device information such as your Advertising ID, IP address, and coarse device data, as described in Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses data from sites and apps that use its services.
In the European Economic Area and the UK, the app asks for your consent via Google's User Messaging Platform before showing personalized ads. You can also reset or delete your Advertising ID at any time in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads).
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you never joined the leaderboard, we hold nothing about you: uninstalling the app removes all locally stored game data.
If you did join, you can delete your leaderboard data at any time, and you do not need to contact us to do it:
Please note that uninstalling the app does not by itself remove a leaderboard entry, because the entry is stored on the server. Use one of the two methods above.
For data processed by Google for advertising, see the Google links above.
If the app's data practices ever change (for example, if online features are added), this page will be updated and the effective date revised.
